Your right to be forgotten

You can ask us at any time to close your Ellicash account and erase the personal data we hold about you. This page explains what gets deleted, what we are legally required to keep, and exactly how to make a request from the app or the web.

How to delete your account

From the mobile app

  1. Open Ellicash and sign in.
  2. Go to Profile → Settings → Account.
  3. Tap Delete account and confirm with your PIN or biometrics.
  4. You will receive a confirmation email once deletion is scheduled.

By email

If you cannot access the app, send a deletion request from the email address on your account to privacy@ellicash.com with the subject “Account deletion request”. We may ask for additional information to verify your identity before processing the request.

What gets deleted

  • Your profile (name, email, phone number, profile picture).
  • Your saved beneficiaries and address book.
  • Your wallet balances after settlement (see “What we must retain” below).
  • Your virtual cards, which are immediately closed.
  • Your in-app chat history and support conversations.
  • Marketing preferences and analytics identifiers tied to your account.

What we must retain (and why)

Financial regulations require us to keep certain records even after you close your account. We minimise this data and store it under restricted access:

  • Transaction records & KYC documents — retained for up to 5–10 years depending on your country of residence, to comply with anti-money-laundering (AML) and tax laws.
  • Fraud-prevention signals — retained where required to protect Ellicash and other users from financial crime.
  • Records of your deletion request — kept as proof we honoured your request.

Once the legal retention period ends, this data is permanently erased.

Before you delete

  • Withdraw any remaining wallet balance — funds cannot be returned after deletion.
  • Cancel any scheduled or recurring transfers.
  • Download your transaction history if you want a personal copy.

How long does it take?

Account closure is processed within 7 days. Personal data covered by this policy is erased within 30 days, except for records we must retain by law (see above). Backups are purged on the next regular cycle, within 90 days at the latest.
